When it comes to getting your hair and makeup done for a wedding, there are certain etiquette rules that every guest, bridesmaid, and bride should know. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  1. Book your appointments early: If you're planning to get your hair and makeup done by a professional, make sure you book your appointments early. Since we are still in a wedding boom, 8 months and earlier is the typical time frame for in demand artists. You may get lucky with an appointment closer to your date, but this isn't always the case for Saturday wedding dates. An early appointment will give you plenty of time to try out different looks and make any necessary changes before the big day.

  2. Be clear about what you want: When you're working with a professional makeup artist or hairstylist, it's important to be clear about what you want. Bring in photos of hairstyles and makeup looks you like, and be open to suggestions from the artist. If the hairstylist recommends extensions based on your inspiration photo, please understand that it is to help you get results as close to the picture as possible. Trust the opinion of the professional and if you're unsure why they made a certain recommendation, please circle back with them and ask, it is their job to get their questions answered.

  1. Be punctual: On the day of the wedding, make sure you arrive on time for your hair and makeup appointments. This will give the artist enough time to work their magic and ensure that everyone is ready on schedule.

  2. Consider the dress code: When choosing your hair and makeup look, consider the dress code for the wedding. Ask the bride ahead of time if there are any guidelines for hair and makeup. Avoid doing the same style as the bride on her wedding day to allow her to stand out.

  3. Be respectful of others: If you're getting your hair and makeup done as part of a group, be respectful of others' time and space. Don't monopolize the artist's time, and don't take up too much space in the getting-ready area. Additionally, avoid talking on the phone or engaging in other distracting activities during your appointment. And always follow the stylist's instructions for the best results.

  4. Remember to tip: If you're happy with the service you received from the hair and makeup artist, don't forget to tip them. A standard tip is around 15-20% of the total cost of the service.

By following these wedding hair and makeup etiquette tips, you'll be sure to have a smooth and stress-free experience on the big day. And if you're the bride, consider sharing these tips.
